New trains to run on Patna-Buxar, Patna-Jhajha routes

Exciting news for daily travelers! Two new commuter train services have been inaugurated on the Patna-Buxar and Patna-Jhajha routes, inspired by Mumbai's vibrant local train network. Designed to alleviate traffic on overcrowded trains, these high-frequency services are a game-changer for commuters, offering a swift, dependable, and cost-effective way to navigate between bustling business and educational districts in the area.

Patna: In a major boost to suburban rail connectivity, the Danapur division of the East Central Railway (ECR) has successfully pressed into service two new dedicated commuter train services on the Patna-Buxar and Patna-Jhajha routes on the lines of the Mumbai local train network.

The initiative is aimed at providing faster, reliable and affordable travel for thousands of daily passengers across the region.According to Danapur senior divisional railway manager (DCM) Abhinav Siddarth, the new services have been introduced to decrease the pressure on existing passenger trains and the increasing demand from office-goers, students traders and other daily commuters. “Designed as high-frequency pendulum services, the trains will shuttle back and forth between their respective routes with minimal turnaround time, ensuring better availability and punctuality,” he said. The Patna-Buxar service is expected to significantly benefit passengers from western parts of the Patna, connecting important stations and commercial centres along the route. “The Patna-Jhajha service will improve access to key educational and employment hubs in southern Bihar and adjoining areas,” Siddarth said, adding that the two train services are being hauled by Madhepura-manufacture locomotives.
