Newborn boy abandoned under bridge, rescued by shepherd

Belagavi: In a heart-rending incident, a newborn baby boy was found abandoned beneath a bridge in Kittur village of Ramdurg taluk, prompting swift rescue efforts by a local shepherd. The infant was discovered under the Basavanakatti bridge on Kittur-Nargund Road on Monday evening, after a shepherd grazing sheep in the area heard the baby’s cries.

He found the newborn lying unattended in a vulnerable condition and immediately rescued the child.He promptly informed the police and concerned govt authorities. Officials rushed to the location and shifted infants to Savadatti taluk hospital for medical examination and treatment. Doctors said the baby is stable and receiving necessary medical care. Hospital sources indicated that the infant is in good health and is under observation. Police have launched an investigation to identify the parents and determine the circumstances that led to the abandonment of the newborn.
