Neymar, who last played for Brazil in 2023, missed the country’s first Group C match of the FIFA World Cup 2026 against Morocco on June 14. In his absence, Brazil struggled against the African side and played out a 1-1 draw.

Neymar, who scored four goals at the 2014 FIFA World Cup and two goals each in the last two editions, is expected to remain on the sidelines for a few more matches and is unlikely to feature in Brazil’s next Group C encounter against Haiti.

Brazil will face the Caribbean nation in their second Group C match on Saturday (June 20 IST) at 06:30 AM IST.

Haiti faced Scotland in their opening match of this year’s FIFA World Cup but suffered a 0-1 defeat.

What Ancelotti said about Neymar?

Neymar suffered an injury to his right calf last month after being named in Brazil’s FIFA World Cup 2026 squad by Carlo Ancelotti.

Ahead of Brazil’s first Group C match against Morocco at New York New Jersey Stadium, Ancelotti stated that Neymar was working hard to recover as quickly as possible and could return to training the following week.

“Neymar is working very hard to recover as quickly as possible," Ancelotti said on Friday.

“We called him up not only for his football ability, which is indisputable, but also for the experience and example he can provide to the younger players in the squad," he added.
