The 2026 NFL Draft conversation shifted on March 1 inside Lucas Oil Stadium. Arkansas quarterback Taylen Green turned the NFL Combine into his personal showcase. The 6-foot-6 playmaker posted record jumps, elite speed, and forced scouts to rethink his draft range.
What started as a mid-round projection now feels far less certain. He did not just test well. He delivered one of the best all-around athletic performances ever recorded by a quarterback at the NFL Combine. In a class still sorting out its pecking order, Green gave evaluators something real to debate.
Record jumps and rare speed put Taylen Green in exclusive company ahead of the 2026 NFL Draft
Taylen Green delivered one of the best testing days ever by a quarterback at the NFL Combine on Saturday in Indianapolis.
This performance boost his place for 2026 NFL Draft. He posted a 43.5-inch vertical jump, the highest ever recorded for a quarterback at the event. He then followed with an 11-foot-2 broad jump, another position record. The previous marks belonged to Anthony Richardson, who recorded a 40-inch vertical and 10-foot-9 broad jump at the 2023 combine before the Indianapolis Colts selected him No. 4 overall in the 2023 NFL Draft.
Green did not just edge those numbers. He cleared them comfortably. Then came the 40-yard dash. Green ran an official 4.36. That stands as the second-fastest time ever by a quarterback at the combine, trailing only Michael Vick’s 4.33 in 2001. At 227 pounds, that speed becomes even more striking.
Green entered the week ranked as the No. 11 quarterback prospect by CBS Sports. He now leaves Indianapolis with clear momentum.
On the field, his college production backs the athletic profile. During the 2025 season at Arkansas, Green threw for 2,714 yards with 19 touchdowns and 11 interceptions. He also rushed for 777 yards and eight scores. Before transferring to Arkansas, he spent three seasons at Boise State. His highs showed real upside. He threw six touchdowns against Mississippi State in 2024. He followed with a five-touchdown effort in a 45-42 loss to Texas A&M during the 2025 season.
Still, questions remain. Green threw 20 interceptions over the past two seasons. Scouts continue to study his mechanics and decision-making.Kentucky defensive coordinator Jay Bateman, who faced him while at Texas A&M, told CBS Sports that Green “reminds me a lot of Anthony Richardson” and praised his growth as a passer. Meanwhile, CBS Sports analyst Ryan Wilson said before the workout that Green “has a chance to be a special talent” but projected him as a Day 3 pick. After this NFL Combine performance, that projection may not last. The 2026 NFL Draft now carries a new wild card at quarterback.
