The Super Bowl is over. The Seattle Seahawks have won. Now, all teams, including the Seahawks, gear up for the next season: mission 2026. This sparks the talk of trades, drafts, free agency, and more.NFL Insider Adam Schefter just reported on X: “With this free agent class, in the eyes of some, considered to be a little bit subpar and with this draft class, in the eyes of some, considered to be a little subpar, it wouldn’t surprise me if we saw an uptick in trade activity.” What prompted this declaration? Let’s read on.
NFL teams are unafraid about making big deals
Schefter shares a video on X explaining that there will be more trades this season than ever. He says the draft and free agency classes are both subpar and that teams are not afraid to make big trades.Schefter starts, “I have had GMs, front office executives, scouts, who’ve been looking at this free agent class and saying, ‘not a great class.’ These teams have done a great job of tying up their own players long-term and making sure that they don’t get to free agency. When we talk about the draft, then we’ll see how it shakes out over time. People aren’t all that excited about the draft either. So, we’ve got a free agent class that’s not real deep, we’ve got a draft that is not considered real deep, you know what that tells me then?”Podcast producer Dan Stanczyk prompts, “More trades?”Schefter responds, “That’s what it tells me. We’ll see more trades than in other years.
In recent years, teams have been more open to making big trades, as we saw at the trade deadline, especially this past year. Teams are unafraid about making a big deal. And with this free agent class, in the eyes of some, considered to be a little bit subpar and with this draft class, in the eyes of some, considered to be a little subpar, it wouldn’t surprise me if we saw an uptick in trade activity.”
