The NFL offseason brings many surprises. One of them includes Green Bay Packers cornerback Jaire Alexander. He is 27 years old and signed a big $84 million deal. But injuries have slowed him down.
The Las Vegas Packers may not want to keep paying him. There are talks that he could be traded or cut. A new report says the Las Vegas Raiders might want him. Many fans and experts are now watching this closely. The deal could happen soon if nothing changes for the Green Bay Packers.
Jaire Alexander’s future is uncertain in Green Bay Packers
On May 27, 2025, Cody Benjamin from CBS Sports said the Las Vegas Raiders could go after Jaire Alexander. The Green Bay Packers already asked him to change his contract.
But it is not clear if he agreed. Jaire Alexander has had injuries in three of the last four seasons. He missed many games due to shoulder and back problems. In May 2022, the Green Bay Packers gave him a four-year, $84 million deal. At that time, it made him one of the top-paid players at his position. But now, the team is not sure about keeping the contract. His injuries and salary are both problems.
If the Green Bay Packers cut him after June 1, they can save some money on the cap over two years.
That makes it easier for the team to rebuild their defence. This is why the trade rumors are growing stronger each day.
Las Vegas Raiders may consider a Jaire Alexander trade if cost is low
The Las Vegas Raiders made changes in March and April 2025. They signed Eric Stokes and picked Darien Porter in the draft. They also let go of Jack Jones. But the team still needs a strong slot corner. Their current group has little experience.Ian Rapoport said on May 28, 2025, on NFL Network, “The Raiders may be open to adding a veteran if the money works.”
Jaire Alexander plays on the outside, not in the slot. But if he becomes a free agent and lowers his price, the Las Vegas Raiders might give him a chance. Also Read: “That's My Guy,” Quarterback Jordan Love Shares His Thoughts On Jaire Alexander
