The NFL announced Sunday that the legendary Green Day rock band, comprising Billie Joe Armstrong, Mike Dirnt, and Tré Cool, will kick off the Super Bowl LX with an Opening Ceremony on February 8, 2026, at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, California. “We are super hyped to open Super Bowl 60 right in our backyard!” Green Day lead singer Billie Joe Armstrong said via The Associated Press. “We are honored to welcome the MVPs who’ve shaped the game and open the night for fans all over the world. Let’s have fun! Let’s get loud!”
What time will Green Day perform at the Super Bowl LX?
The legendary band, best known for “Wake Me Up When September Ends,” [ironically, the NFL season begins in Sept.] will perform at 6 PM ET / 3 PM PT as part of the opening ceremony for Super Bowl 60 between the Seattle Seahawks and the New England Patriots.
How to watch Green Day performance?
The Super Bowl will air live on NBC, Telemundo, Peacock, and Universo. Streaming services with live TV can also show their soulful performance. “Celebrating 60 years of Super Bowl with Green Day as a hometown band,” said Tim Tubito, the NFL’s senior director of global event presentation, music and entertainment. “While honoring the NFL legends who’ve helped define this sport is an incredibly powerful way to kick off Super Bowl LX.

According to NFL.com, the band will perform some of its biggest hits like “Basket Case,” “Wake Me Up When September Ends,” “Holiday,” “American Idiot,” “Boulevard of Broken Dreams,” and “21 Guns.” Basket Case has over 1.5B streams on Spotify, American Idiot has over 1.3B, and both Boulevard of Broken Dreams and Wake Me Up When September Endshave over 1B streams each. The legendary rock band has reportedly never performed at a Super Bowl halftime show before. This could be the first crossover between rock music and sports.
