The San Francisco 49ers had an impressive run on the field in the last season with twelve wins and just five losses. While hopes were crushed when the team ended up losing to the Seattle Seahawks in the Divisional round of the last season, the team is focused on fixing its roster for the upcoming season.
San Francisco 49ers tipped to lean on former Washington Commanders’ star player, Austin Ekeler, amid his serious injuries
Though the San Francisco 49ers performed well as compared to the last few seasons, the 30 year old former Washington Commander’s star player, Austin Ekeler is now being pitched to the team to help out Christian McCaffrey.
A few hours ago, Niners Noise’s Nick San Miguel noted that, “Ekeler was a great pass-catching running back in his time with the Los Angeles Chargers (he even had 993 receiving yards one season) and has tallied over 4,200 career receiving yards.
He's proven that he can give opponents problems as a pesky presence in the backfield.”He added, “He will probably be pretty cheap, given his injury history and age, so maybe the Niners can snag him and use him in the backfield to see if he can at least keep the other side honest when McCaffrey isn’t on the field.”However, the San Francisco 49ers have maintained their fair share of distance from the speculations. Over the last few seasons, the 30 year old former Washington Commander’s star player, Austin Ekeler, has raised eyebrows with the injuries that he has sustained on the field.
In the last season, Austin Ekeler ended up sustaining a non contact injury in the second game of the season as fans watched him being carted off the field.Later, it was announced that Austin Ekeler will be unavailable for the rest of the season as he finished the season with 43 rushing yards and 38 receiving yards. But this was not the first time that Austin Ekeler has sustained such serious injuries which made him unavailable for his team.Back in 2024, Austin Ekeler ended up with two concussions as he recorded 367 rushing yards and 4 touchdowns, along with 35 receptions for 366 receiving yards in 12 games. While his $8.43 million contract with the Washington Commanders’ recently came to an end, he has not been linked to any team yet.For now, all eyes are on Austin Ekeler’s performance in the upcoming season as he battles injuries.
