The NHL’s Department of Player Safety has recently fined Ottawa Senators defenseman Tyler Kleven recently for cross-checking his opponent, Jared McCann, during a match on Saturday. As per reports, the Department of Player Safety penalized the player with a $4,166.67 fine, which is the maximum allowable under the CBA, for cross-checking the Seattle Kraken forward.

As reported by the NHL, the incident occurred exactly at around 16:35 of the third period in Ottawa’s game against Seattle on March 7. Announcing the same on Twitter/X account, NHL Player Safety Department posted, “Ottawa’s Tyler Kleven has been fined $4,166.67, the maximum allowable under the CBA, for cross-checking Seattle’s Jared McCann.”

Reports suggest that Kleven delivered a cross-check to McCann that resulted in officials assessing him a five-minute major penalty and a game misconduct during the contest.Following a review of the situation, the NHL’s Department of Player Safety announced that Kleven has been fined $4,166.67, which is the maximum allowable under the league’s Collective Bargaining Agreement. It is to be noted that the money from the fine will go to the Players’ Emergency Assistance Fund.Despite the penalty, Kleven contributed offensively in the game. The 4-year-old defenseman recorded a goal, three hits, and 17 penalty minutes as the Senators defeated the Kraken 7–4.Meanwhile, Senators’ Jake Anderson was officially listed as day-to-day with an upper-body injury after taking a hit against the Seattle Kraken. Despite his injury, the Ottawa Senators managed to defeat the Seattle Kraken by 7-4, scoring four goals and three-point performances from Shane Pinto and Linus Ullmark. The Sens will again play on Monday evening in Vancouver against the Canucks.
