Night travel ban in Idukki

Idukki: In view of India meteorological department’s (IMD) heavy rainfall alert, Idukki district collector Dinesan Cheruvat imposed a night travel ban in the hilly regions of the district.The restriction has been enforced to prevent disaster-related incidents as continuous heavy rainfall has increased the risk of landslides and mudslides in mountainous areas. The travel ban will be in effect from 7pm to 6am.The collector directed district police chief, regional transport officer, sub-divisional magistrates and tahsildars to ensure strict implementation of the order.
