Nightlife project to be launched near tech hub

The Tourism department on Wednesday launched a project at Aanathazhchira near Technocity, Pallippuram, in Thiruvananthapuram as part of an initiative to bring to fore unexplored spots to attract tourists, besides promoting eco-friendly and nightlife tourism. Marking the commencement of the project, Tourism Minister P.A. Mohamed Riyas received the title deed for 16.7 acres of land owned by the Revenue department at Andoorkonam grama panchayat from Revenue Minister K. Rajan.

The project will give priority to water adventure sports, eco-friendly park for children and special bicycle track. The Freedom Park of Kerala Startup Mission (KSUM) is also coming up near the project area. The park will have an exhibition space featuring latest innovations of start-ups.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Riyas said this project will be beneficial for the local community, besides giving a facelift to the village. Noting that tourism projects enhance the development of a place, Mr. Rajan said the project will leverage the immense tourism potential of Aanathazhchira, which has proximity to Technocity.

Minister for Food and Civil Supplies G.R. Anil, who presided over the function, lauded the Tourism department for taking up the project, considering the immense potential of the place. The project was proposed to be implemented in Public-Private Partnership model. An expression of interest (EoI) for the construction activities of the project that has been envisaged as ‘nightlife project’ will be floated in September.
