NIRL signs Joint Venture with OREDA for establishment of 1,000 MW green energy in Odisha

NLC India Renewables Limited (NIRL), a subsidiary of NLC India Limited (NLCIL), has signed a Joint Venture agreement with The Odisha Renewable Energy Development Agency (OREDA) for establishment, operation and maintenance of 1,000 MW green energy in Odisha.

The JV also envisages the development of other objectives, assets, ancillary activities in the green energy area not limited to this by forward and backward integration in the State.

The JV was signed by Devendra Pratap Singh, Chief Executive Officer, NIRL and Saidutta Biplab Keshari Pradhan, CEO of Oreda, Special Secretary, Department of Energy, Government of Odisha.

According to a press note, the JV envisages installation and generation of 1000 MW green energy power plants across the State of Odisha in the first phase and to operate and maintain the same, subject to establishing techno-commercial feasibility and approvals as may be required from the respective Boards, Ministry of Coal or any authority.

According to Prasanna Kumar Motupalli, Chairman and Managing Director of NLCIL, the partnership with OREDA marks a significant milestone in NLCIL’s strategic diversification into clean and sustainable energy sectors and development of renewable energy projects using various technologies for solar, wind, hybrid, Batter Energy Storage System / Pumped Hydro Storage, green hydrogen and any potential renewable energy technology emerging in future.
