In a shocking incident, a leader from Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s party, Janta Dal (United), was killed in broad daylight in Khagaria on Thursday.
As per the report by NDTV, the deceased leader, identified as Rajkishor Nishad, was killed by a group of assailants allegedly using an iron rod.
The incident came just two days after BJP leader Surendra Kewat was shot dead by two bike-borne men in Patna. The 52-year-old suffered four bullet injuries in the attack. He was rushed to the AIIMS in Patna, where he died during treatment.
The string of murder incidents has become a challenge for the Nitish Kumar government in the election year as it struggles to counter the Opposition’s narrative on Bihar’s law and order situation.
The RJD-Congress alliance has been trying to corner the BJP-JDU combine on the law and order issue ahead of the polls, and these political attacks have intensified in the aftermath of the murder of prominent businessman and BJP leader Gopal Khemka outside his Patna home.
This is a developing story
