A civic school in Anandvalli area of Nashik city
Nashik: The civic body, in order to improve the quality of education in civic-run schools, has decided to develop six of its schools as model schools, selecting one school from each of its six administrative divisions in the city. The identified schools will be upgraded with improved infrastructure, digital learning facilities, and enhanced academic standards to create benchmarks for other municipal schools. The initiative aims to strengthen the overall quality of education and make civic schools more attractive for the students and parents. The decision was taken by Mita Chaudhari, administrative officer of the Nashik Municipal Corporation’s (NMC) education department, during a review meeting held with teachers and headmasters of municipal schools. An NMC official said the model schools will be developed on the lines of the Zilla Parishad’s Hiwali school in Trimbakeshwar, which is recognised for its innovative teaching practices and improved student outcomes. “The objective is to replicate successful models and raise academic standards across municipal schools,” an official said.Along with infrastructure upgrades, the civic body is focusing on increasing parental engagement.
As part of this effort, parent-teacher meetings will be organised on the third Saturday of every month to review students’ academic performance and ensure continuous communication between parents and teachers. To further strengthen coordination, separate WhatsApp groups will be created for each class, involving parents and teachers. “These groups will be used to share updates related to homework, school activities, projects, and important announcements, as well as to gather feedback,” the NMC official said.Officials said such measures are expected to enhance transparency, improve accountability, and foster a supportive learning environment. The NMC currently operates 100 schools across Nashik city, including 88 primary and 12 secondary schools.
