NMIA gets two hoax bomb threat emails two days in a row

Navi Mumbai: The Navi Mumbai International Airport (NMIA) received a second hoax bomb threat email two days in a row.The first threat email was received on NMIA’s official website on Wednesday around 7.20 am.

The message was sent by an anonymous person from email ID ‘tg [email protected]’.The second hoax bomb threat at NMIA was received on Thursday at 7.43 pm on the official govt email address of CISF (Central Industrial Security Force). The email sender was ‘anbananthan.ariyappamatomicmail.io’.Both threats were found to be fake as no explosive device was found at the airport premises after the search operation by BDDS (Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad) and sniffer dogs.

In both the incidents, separate non-cognisable (NC) offences were registered at the Navi Mumbai Airport police station. While the first NC was registered after a complaint by a QCX (Quality Control Exchange) executive at the airport project office, the second one was filed after a complaint was lodged by a police sub-inspector of the CISF battalion, said Arjun Rajane, senior inspector (in charge) of the Navi Mumbai Airport police station.

The unknown accused persons were booked under BNS section for the offence that penalises the creation, publication or circulation of any statement, false information, rumour or report (including through electronic means) with the intent to cause, or which is likely to cause, fear or alarm to the public.
