Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Saturday directed officials to ensure that every Assembly constituency receives an equal share of development works under the Public Works Department’s Annual Work Plan for 2026-27.
Reviewing the plan in Gautam Buddh Nagar with public representatives and officials from Meerut Division, the Chief Minister said development proposals should reflect local needs and the priorities set by Members of Parliament and MLAs. He stressed that no Assembly constituency should be left out of the development process.
According to the state government, a total of 1,284 development projects worth an estimated Rs 6,568.36 crore have been identified for the Meerut Division.
Priority to public representatives’ proposals
The Chief Minister instructed MPs and MLAs to decide the order of priority for development proposals in their respective Lok Sabha and Assembly constituencies so that projects serving the public interest could be approved quickly and implemented within the stipulated time.
He also directed officials to prepare proposals for areas where development work has not been carried out previously. This, he said, would help ensure balanced use of available resources while extending development benefits to new regions.
Yogi Adityanath said every Assembly constituency should find due representation in the annual work plan.
“If any approved project has unfinished work, it should also be included in the work plan and completed at the earliest so that people receive its benefits on time," he said.
Directions on religious and charitable projects
The Chief Minister also issued instructions regarding proposals for charitable and religious works.
He said such projects should be planned at places that attract a large number of devotees and where sufficient and suitable land is available for construction. He added that local requirements and public convenience should be taken into account while preparing these proposals.
Yogi Adityanath further directed officials to complete the approval process for all development projects at the earliest so that implementation could begin without unnecessary delay.
He emphasised that quality, transparency and timely execution should remain the guiding principles of all development works. At the same time, he said, the suggestions of public representatives and the needs of local communities must receive the highest priority.
Ministers and officials attend review meeting
The review meeting was attended by Industrial Development, Export Promotion, NRI and Investment Promotion Minister Nand Gopal Gupta ‘Nandi’, Environment, Forest and Climate Change Minister K. P. Malik, Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Backward Class Welfare and Divyangjan Empowerment Narendra Kumar Kashyap, Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Sainik Kalyan and Prantiya Rakshak Dal Somendra Tomar, Minister of State for Public Works Department and Minister in-charge of Gautam Buddh Nagar Brijesh Singh, and Minister of State for Jal Shakti Dinesh Khatik.
Members of Parliament and MLAs from Meerut Division also attended the meeting, along with Meerut Divisional Commissioner Bhanu Chandra Goswami, Noida Chief Executive Officer Krishna Karunesh, Police Commissioner Laxmi Singh, Gautam Buddh Nagar District Magistrate Medha Roopam and senior officials from the government, administration, development authorities and the police department.
