Novak Djokovic has withdrawn from next week’s ATP 500 Doha Open due to strong fatigue, organisers announced on Instagram on Wednesday.
This announcement comes just 10 days after the twenty-four-time Grand Slam champion Djokovic lost to world number one Carlos Alcaraz in the Australian Open final.
Two days prior to that, the 38-year-old Djokovic had triumphed over world number two Jannik Sinner in a gruelling semi-final that lasted more than four hours.
Alcaraz and Sinner will be the top two seeds in Doha, the capital of Qatar. Both players will be participating in their first tournament since the year’s opening Grand Slam in Melbourne.
Djokovic is expected to return to play in March at the Indian Wells Masters 1000.
