In more outreach to farmers, Union minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan on Tuesday said there is no greater worship than serving those who provide us with food.

Comparing food to Brahma, the god of creation in Hinduism, Chouhan said food is our lifeline and because farmers give us food, they are “lifegivers".

“Food is our life, food is Brahma. The farmer provides food, thus he is both the giver of food and life," Chouhan said during an interaction with farmers at Pusa Institute. “As the agriculture minister, I always feel that serving farmers is worshipping God, and there can be no greater worship than this. I strive to be a “kisan sevak" because I live and breathe farming, and farmers dwell in every fibre of my being."

pic.twitter.com/t1vkiZ5Rxj— Shivraj Singh Chouhan (@ChouhanShivraj) August 12, 2025

Reaffirming the central government’s commitment to farmer welfare, Chouhan further said Prime Minister Narendra Modi will never compromise with the interests of farmers. “This is the voice of India, this is the voice of India’s farmers," he said.

‘LET SWADESHI BECOME A MANTRA’

Chouhan said in trying times, everyone must band together and provide unwavering support to each other, and this can be achieved through self-reliance.

“India has become the world’s fourth-largest economy and will soon be the third-largest economy. That day will also come when India will be the world’s largest economy, but for this, we all have to contribute," he said.

He said every festival and celebration should carry the message of adopting indigenous practices. “Things made in our country will give us strength, give strength to our children, provide employment to our youth, and also empower our mothers and sisters associated with self-help groups. Let Swadeshi become a mantra and let Swadeshi turn into a movement, so that whatever things we use, we will only use Swadeshi," he added.
