A group of tourists from Telangana and Andhra Pradesh stranded in Bahrain have made an urgent appeal to the Government of India and their respective state governments, saying they are trapped in a “very dangerous situation” after chaos erupted at the airport amid reported missile and bomb incidents.

In a video message circulating online, one of the stranded men said the group had travelled from Hyderabad on a tourist visa on February 24 and were due to return four days later.

“We came here from Hyderabad on the 24th to visit Bahrain on a tourist visa. After four days, when we returned and reached the airport, while we were standing in the check-in line, bombs were dropped, missiles were dropped, counters were closed,” he said.

He added, “There was no proper response from the Indian embassy. We are in a very dangerous situation here.”

‘ELDERLY PEOPLE WITH DIABETES AND BP’

According to the group, several elderly members are travelling with them and are struggling to access essential medication.

“We have elderly people with us. They have diabetes and BP. Without a prescription, no one is given tablets here,” the man said, adding that many of them are staying together in a cramped two-bedroom flat.

“Not just us, we are in a single apartment, in a two-bedroom flat. There are so many of us here. The Telugu people who know us here are giving us one-time meals,” he said.

Another woman in the video said their funds had run out. “We have run out of money. It is difficult for us to survive. Please help us. We request you to take a decision and arrange for us to be brought back,” she said.

A second woman said their families in India were deeply worried. “All our family members are in India. They are worried about us. They are begging us. Please help us,” she said.

‘I AM 73 YEARS OLD, I HAVE FINISHED MY MEDICINES’

A 73-year-old man in the group described the situation as increasingly distressing.

“I am 73 years old. I have completed all the medicines I have taken. If I want to buy medicine, no one will give it to me without a prescription. Please help me to get home as soon as possible,” he said.

Appealing directly to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu, and Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, the group urged authorities to arrange their evacuation at the earliest.

“We request Modi, Chandra Babu Naidu, and Revanth Reddy and the Telugu people to help us. When you watch this video, please help us and send us back to our respective areas,” one of them said.

There has been no immediate response from the Centre or the two state governments regarding evacuation plans.
