Vijayawada: Andhra Pradesh minister and Chittoor district in charge Mandipalli Ramprasad Reddy has assured mango farmers that there is no need for concern over the ongoing procurement process, stating that the govt is committed to ensuring that growers do not suffer any losses.Addressing the media on Tuesday, the minister recalled that the NDA coalition govt extended support to mango farmers last year by providing ₹4 per kg as assistance. He said the same support is being continued this season, with the govt advancing ₹4 per kg while procurement operations are underway.Ramprasad Reddy explained that procurement came under temporary pressure due to the bumper mango harvest this year, resulting in a higher-than-usual arrival of produce.

He noted that the govt paid nearly ₹190 crore to mango farmers during the previous season, providing significant relief to growers. The minister warned that strict action would be taken against processing factories if they delayed procurement or caused inconvenience to farmers. He also alleged that certain companies sympathetic to the YSRC and linked to former minister Peddireddi Ramachandra Reddy were showing negligence in procurement and cautioned that such practices would not be tolerated.

Emphasising that farmers’ welfare remains the govt's top priority, Ramprasad Reddy urged the YSRCP not to use mango farmers for political purposes and assured growers that the govt would continue to monitor the situation closely and take all necessary measures to safeguard their interests.
