In the Ram Mandir donation theft case, the family members of one of the accused, Luv Kush Mishra, strongly rejected the allegations levied against him, even after the police claimed that they recovered Rs 14.25 lakh in cash from his residence along with important documents during a raid, India Today reported.

The 27-year-old Luv Kush Mishra was part of the team which had been assigned the duty of counting donations and offerings made by the devotees at the Ram Temple. He is among the eight principal accused who have been named in the alleged donation embezzlement case.

‘No Place In House To Keep So Much Cash’

While speaking to India Today, Mishra’s grandfather, Jagdamba Prasad, questioned the claims of the police regarding the cash recovery from his home and claimed that his grandson was innocent.

“Provide the police records and tell us where the money came from. There is no place in this house to keep so many lakhs of rupees. We do not know from where such a huge amount has been shown," said Prasad.

He further claimed that the police officials searched the house two days ago and also looked into the cupboards and documents.

“Some police personnel came inside and took papers from the cupboard. The police have not told us anything. They searched everything thoroughly," Prasad said.

Speaking about the reports of recovery of foreign currency during the raid, Prasad said that no family member lives abroad.

“We are hearing that dollars were found. How can dollars come here? Nobody in our family is abroad. Tell us where the dollars were found and from where they came," he stated.

The family further questioned why the officials had failed to provide any written record of the alleged recovery.

“If anything was recovered, they must have taken it. Did they give anything in writing? We do not know," Prasad claimed.

‘Luv Kush Is Innocent’

Even after the allegations, Prasad said that the family is willing to accept the findings of the Special Investigation Team (SIT), which has been constituted to investigate the case.

“Luv Kush is innocent. If the team formed by the government finds him guilty, then he will face the consequences," he claimed.

He further expressed his disappointment over the investigation and the kind of public scrutiny they are facing. Prasad further challenged the authorities to take action if they are able to prove any wrongdoing.

“If you have the courage, run a bulldozer over this house. The property is properly registered. Whatever has to be demolished, demolish it," he stated.

Mishra’s mother also tried to defend her son and claimed that he was innocent and had been falsely implicated in the case.

What Police Claimed After Raiding Mishra’s House?

According to police sources, investigators recovered Rs 14.25 lakh in cash during searches at Mishra’s residence. The money was allegedly concealed inside cupboards, and beneath piles of cow dung cakes and dry fodder, they said.

The search also led to the seizure of documents, including land registry records. Investigators allege that despite earning a monthly salary of around Rs 12,000-15,000 while working for the Ram Temple Trust, Mishra purchased high-value land in Ayodhya in the name of his wife, Supriya Mishra.

The Special Investigation Team (SIT) is continuing its investigation into the alleged misappropriation of temple donations. Officials are examining the cash recovered, property-related documents and the alleged involvement of all those accused in the case.
