Agriculture Minister K. Atchannaidu has assured that there will be no shortage of fertilizers in the State.
In a statement issued on Monday, the Minister said the estimated requirement for the 2025 kharif season is 31.15 lakh metric tonnes, of which 21.34 lakh metric tonnes have already been supplied. Currently, the State has an availability of 6.22 lakh metric tonnes of urea, DAP, SSP, MOP, and complex fertilizers.
The Minister added that a buffer stock of 1.10 lakh metric tonnes is being maintained. He also noted that the Centre has allotted 3.50 lakh metric tonnes for the State, with 1.30 lakh metric tonnes already received and another 0.47 lakh metric tonnes expected shortly.
For August, the scheduled supply of 1.65 lakh metric tonnes has been partially received, with 0.75 lakh metric tonnes already at hand. The remaining stocks are expected to arrive soon at Gangavaram, Kakinada, Visakhapatnam, and Odisha ports.
Mr. Atchannaidu warned of stringent action against middlemen who sell fertilizers at higher prices and confirmed that supplies for banana and sugarcane crops are being closely monitored.
