No smartphone, no problem: Fahadh Faasil on life without social media - 'It feels natural, not isolated'

It's a known fact that the Hollywood veteran director Christopher Nolan doesn't use smart phones, hence he is not active on social media. Now in Mollywood, the versatile actor Fahadh Faasil seems to be following the same.The acclaimed actor recently spoke to The Hollywood Reporter and revealed that he still doesn’t own a smartphone. It’s not because he dismisses the value of technology, he’s clear that smartphones are useful, but rather that he’s created a life where they’re simply not essential.“There are always other ways to connect if someone needs to,” Fahadh said. The 'Maareesan' actor explained that the people who need to reach him can connect with him even without digital shortcuts.

Tried, tested, and rejected

Fahadh did try using social media at one point. But it didn’t take long for him to realise it wasn’t his space. He found himself unsure of what to post and how to respond to the influx of comments that followed. “Those accounts were just to tell people about the films I was doing,” he admitted. Anything beyond that felt forced and unnatural to him.

Rather than pretend to enjoy the platform, he quietly stepped away and has had no regrets.

“I’ve never felt cut off from the world,” he shared. “The people around me are on social media. I still know everything I need to.”

Work over visibility

For Fahadh, the only thing that truly matters is the work. He believes in the power of good cinema to connect him with his audience—no filters, hashtags, or updates required. “If I start making bad movies, that’s when I should really worry,” he said with characteristic simplicity.Meanwhile, Fahadh Faasil's recent outing is the Vadivelu starrer 'Maareesan' which is getting positive reviews from the audiences and is doing a decent box office business.
