Noida Dowry Death: Who Took Nikki's Jewellery During Her Funeral?

The Noida dowry death case has recently taken another turn, with both sides leveling serious allegations against each other. According to News18 Hindi, when Nikki’s last rites were being performed, her husband Vipin Bhati was not present at the spot. At the same time, members of Vipin’s family alleged that Nikki’s elder sister Kanchan fled from the house with jewellery and other belongings. However, Kanchan’s family has denied these claims.

News18 Hindi further reported that after the post-mortem, Nikki’s body was handed over to her maternal family, who took it to Roopwas, a village in Greater Noida. Members of Vipin’s family, along with villagers, also reached Roopwas, from where they brought Kanchan and her three children. The arrangement, as per the report, was that they would be sent back after the last rites were performed in Sirsa, Haryana.

Vipin’s family members alleged that during the cremation, when the men had gone to the funeral site, Kanchan entered the house and took jewellery and valuables. On the other hand, Nikki’s father-in-law, Satyaveer, brother-in-law, Rohit, and other family members were reportedly present at the funeral site, where the pyre was lit by Satyaveer himself. Nikki’s young son was also present during the rituals.

Just hours later, on August 22 at 12:40 pm, Kanchan filed a case against Nikki’s husband and his family members, News18 Hindi reported.

Nikki’s brother, also named Rohit, rejected the allegations made against his sister. He told News18 Hindi that the claims of theft were baseless, adding that Nikki wore gold earrings during her lifetime, and they were not removed even till the funeral. “Neither our sister nor we have any greed for jewellery," he reportedly said.

According to reports, the police have so far arrested four people in connection with the case. The investigation is ongoing, and four videos have also been circulated on social media by both sides.
