Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has countered the description of India as a “dead economy,” a phrase once used by former US President Donald Trump, asserting that the country is not only alive but thriving. Calling it a “Long Live Economy,” he highlighted India’s strong economic performance.

Chouhan pointed to the April–June quarter of FY26, when the economy registered 7.8 per cent growth, drawing global attention. He credited the achievement to visionary leadership, precise policymaking, and determined execution. “When leadership is firm, policies are accurate, and decisions are visionary, then the results create history,” he wrote.

The minister underscored that the country’s progress reflects the collective effort of farmers, scientists and 1.4 billion citizens. He especially praised the agricultural sector, describing its contribution as “unprecedented.” Agriculture, he said, has achieved 3.7% growth, driven by farmers’ perseverance and adoption of innovations. “This moment is one of special pride for our farmers,” Chouhan said, adding that agriculture’s resilience has been central to sustaining India’s momentum.

Reiterating India’s long-term vision, Chouhan said that under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, the country is steadily moving toward becoming a developed nation. His remarks come at a time when India’s rapid growth is under close global watch amid economic uncertainties, signaling confidence in the nation’s resilience and future potential.
