Congress leader Rahul Gandhi launched a sharp attack on the Pinarayi Vijayan-led Left Democratic Front (LDF) government in Kerala, accusing the ruling alliance of maintaining close ties with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS).
Speaking at a rally in Alappuzha, Rahul Gandhi said, “Today, a senior leader who once belonged to the Left is on this stage. There is a reason he is sitting here. It is not that he has suddenly changed his way of thinking. People who have spent many years in a political organisation, they absorb things from that journey."
“He is sitting here because something fundamental has happened to the LDF. For many years, the LDF were our opponents. We will continue to fight them, but for many years, they stood for some ideas. Frankly, there is nothing ‘Left’ about the Left Front anymore, and after this election, there will be nothing left of the Left Front," he added.

Gandhi implied that several LDF leaders and workers were disturbed by the fact that the alliance’s policies no longer reflected the Left values, and alleged that a “hidden hand" was influencing the LDF. "
“This hidden force is communal, does not accept the Constitution of India, and seeks to divide, attack and humiliate people. Everybody in Kerala can clearly see a relationship between the BJP-RSS and the Left Front, the CPM," he remarked.

Gandhi Attacks PM Modi, Vijayan
The Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha further questioned why Prime Minister Narendra Modi never attacks Chief Minister Vijayan during his election rallies, while he consistently attacks the Congress.
“I fight the BJP, I fight the RSS. I have 36–38 cases against me. They took away my government house and my membership in the Lok Sabha. I am out on bail and have been interrogated for 55 hours, but I do not back down. PM Modi attacks me and the Congress party every single day. Why does Narendra Modi not attack your CM? " he said.
He said PM Modi mentions God, temples and religion in every election speech, but when he comes to Kerala, he does not utter a word about it. “He knows that the LDF can never challenge Narendra Modi in India. That is why the UDF is in his targets," he added.
Gandhi further accused both PM Modi and Vijayan of being “arrogant" and “drunk with power" after being in power for more than 10 years, which he said had fractured their relationship with the people.
“When they start believing that power comes from them, arrogance sets in. The people around them reinforce this illusion, and gradually, the connection between the leader and the people breaks. The leader stops listening, and the people begin to feel ignored and disconnected. That is what has happened to the Chief Minister of Kerala and the Prime Minister," he stated.
Gandhi’s remarks came as Kerala gears up for Assembly elections on April 9, with a high-octane clash between the LDF and the Congress-led UDF on the cards.
