24-time Grand Slam champion Novak Djokovic moved into the quarterfinals of the Australian Open after his fourth-round opponent, Jakub Mensik, withdrew from the tournament due to an abdominal muscle injury, the latter announced on social media.

Djokovic and Mensik were scheduled to face off in a night session on centre court on Monday, but the Czech youngster was forced to withdraw through injury, calling it a ‘super sad’ decision.

Mensik’s withdrawal means Djokovic will play Italian fifth seed Lorenzo Musetti or American ninth seed Taylor Fritz for a place in the semi-finals. The latter plays Musetti on Monday at 8:30 am IST.
