LUCKNOW: After the Centre approved the 'Parivartan Yojana' to tackle air pollution in the Delhi-NCR, promote clean transportation and phase out old trucks and buses, the Uttar Pradesh transport department has decided to implement the scheme across the state's NCR region.Under the scheme, buyers of new BS-VI-compliant or electric vehicles (EVs) will receive a 100% rebate on motor vehicle tax (road tax), while those purchasing used BS-VI-compliant or electric vehicles will be eligible for a 50% rebate. The tax concession will remain valid for 10 years, according to an official release.The scheme also provides a 100% waiver of the registration fee for new vehicles purchased under it.In addition, pending motor vehicle tax dues of more than one year on BS-I, BS-II, BS-III and BS-IV buses and trucks registered in the NCR region will be waived, provided the vehicles are scrapped through an authorised Registered Vehicle Scrapping Facility (RVSF).Vehicle owners will also be eligible for a 5% interest subsidy on loans for diesel and CNG vehicles, fuel vouchers, and a one-time incentive ranging from Rs 64,000 to Rs 2.56 lakh for electric vehicles, depending on the vehicle category.
