Cross-Border Terrorism, Quad Feature In Talks

A major focus of the talks was on cross-border terrorism, with Doval seeking stronger US support against terror safe havens. Both sides agreed to intensify intelligence sharing, disrupt terror financing and take joint actions against groups threatening regional security.

Doval and Rubio also discussed strengthening the Quad and enhancing maritime domain awareness. The meeting between the Indian and American delegations comes amid rising geopolitical tensions globally.

Earlier, CNN-News18 reported that the two sides are also expected to discuss measures aimed at countering China’s growing influence in the South China Sea and the Indian Ocean region.

The meeting is also expected to review the potential expansion of joint military exercises such as Malabar, while both countries may discuss the strategic importance of securing critical maritime supply routes and supply chains.

The two sides are likely to deliberate on increasing cooperation in clean energy, critical minerals and nuclear energy, while also exploring LNG supplies, renewable technology partnerships and joint investments in energy infrastructure. This came amid ongoing tensions in West Asia and concerns over global energy supply disruptions.
