New Delhi: On June 20, the National Testing Agency (NTA) held a mock examination all over the country, as part of its preparations for the NEET-UG 2026 re-examination, which is scheduled to happen on June 21. Amid all the arrangements, the exercise was replicated in examination centres all over the country to ensure that all is set for the smooth running of the highly important medical entrance test.
The mock drill was arranged to gauge the preparedness of examination centers, security arrangements, and administrative arrangements in advance of the re-exam. Officials inspected various parameters such as CCTV monitoring, biometric verification systems, power backup arrangements, seating arrangements, emergency preparedness and many other factors. The purpose was to “work the bugs out” of the program prior to the scheduled exam date. The goal was to check and solve possible problems before the exam date.
After the NEET-UG exam was reportedly canceled owing to accusations of paper leak and irregularities, the NEET-UG 2026 re-examination is currently underway. As a result of these investigations and concerns raised by students and parents, a new examination has been approved by the government to ensure fairness and trust in the examination system. The re-test will happen throughout the country on June 21.
Many security measures have been beefed up for the re-examination. Examination centers are being closely monitored, whereas several other safeguards are being implemented to prevent any malpractice. Reportedly, examination centers have been asked to have rigorous security and ensure all candidates abide by NTA guidelines.
The NTA has also introduced an official WhatsApp communication platform for the candidates to keep them updated with relevant information and other important notifications. Students are advised to only use official sources for information regarding the admit card, examination centers, and examination guidelines. The agency has alerted the candidates to fake messages and information spreading on social media.
The national mock drill aims to prepare for a smooth, transparent, and secure process during the actual exam. The NTA’s objective for pre-testing is to decrease disruptions, as well as giving all appearing candidates for the re-examination a fair chance. The mock drill is meant to assess how effectively the new exam pattern would be implemented for conducting NEET-UG 2026 in a safe and orderly manner in the view of lakhs of students expected to take the test.
