Tourists watching jog falls
Hubballi: The North Western Karnataka Road Transport Corporation (NWKRTC) has launched special bus services on weekends and public holidays for tourists visiting the world-famous Jog Falls following the onset of the monsoon season.In a press release, Hubballi divisional controller H Ramanagoudar said the Malnad region has been receiving widespread rainfall since the arrival of the monsoon. “Rivers, streams and other water bodies are flowing in full spate. Jog Falls has regained its grandeur and is attracting a growing number of visitors. In response to public demand, special direct buses have been arranged from Hubballi to Jog Falls on second Saturdays, fourth Saturdays, all Sundays and public holidays,” he said.The buses will depart from the Gokul Road Central Bus Stand. Passengers will also get an opportunity to visit the Marikamba Temple in Sirsi during the onward journey. Adequate time will be provided at Jog Falls for sightseeing, relaxation and meals.Ramanagoudar said a Volvo AC bus will leave Gokul Road central bus stand at 8am and reach Jog Falls at 1.30pm. It will begin the return trip at 4pm and arrive in Hubballi at 9pm.
The round-trip fare has been fixed at Rs 700.A Vayudoot bus will depart at 7.30am and reach Jog Falls at 1.30pm. It will leave Jog Falls at 4pm and return to Hubballi at 9.30pm. The fare for the onward and return journey is Rs 500.Passengers can book tickets in advance through the KSRTC website, mobile app, and at the Gokul Road Central Bus Stand and Hosur Bus Stand booking counters. A 5% discount will be offered on fares for bookings of four or more seats under a single ticket, he added.
