In the present day, schools conceptualise educational programmes that balance learning with personal development, giving students opportunities to explore creativity and community-rooted activities.
These experiences revolve around cycles of planning, action and reflection so that students can work on their self-awareness and participate beyond the classroom. These opportunities also acknowledge that growth does not occur only through formal instruction but also through experiences rich in initiative and collaboration. With consistent engagement, students can eventually build a stronger sense of responsibility, navigate challenges a lot more effectively and be more responsive to the needs of others around them. It is these experiences that also enable them prepare for the world of work and to be able to deal with multiple stakeholders. Showcasing one such initiative was the Oakridge International School, Bachupally. It hosted the CAS Exhibition for the IBDP Cohort of 2026, a milestone in an 18-month journey of Creativity, Activity and Service. Leadership built through CASAcross projects, students met the seven CAS learning outcomes.
They identified strengths and growth areas, undertook challenges, initiated and planned meaningful experiences, showed commitment and teamwork, engaged with issues of global significance and reflected on ethical choices and actions. They also grew as communicators, risk takers, principled and caring learners, and developed strong ATL skills in communication, social interaction, self-management, research and thinking.Anuradha Varma, Principal, Oakridge International School, Bachupally, said, “I’m truly humbled and extremely proud to have been a part of the CAS Exhibition of the DP2 students that we engaged in today. CAS at Oakridge is so integral to everything that our students do that we try to invoke a sense of responsibility and mindful action in the small steps that they take. For instance, AWAAZ stories from the heart, such a beautiful compilation of little short stories that our students have crafted along with the little learners of the Mandal parishad primary school at Shambipur.
The little learned have expressed their thoughts and ideas and shared their illustrations which resonated in a beautiful collaboration and have been compiled in a collection of short stories. Though it was a CAS project, I think the students have beautifully addressed the SDG Goals of reducing inequalities and the UNCRC child rights of freedom to expression through this endeavour. It is learnings such as these that really empower our children and help them to grow towards being a better citizen, and also give them a learning for a lifetime.
I feel the experiences our children have gained over these 2 years have not only moulded them as better citizens of the world but also given them a lifetime of learning. I wish them the very best in all that they plan to pursue in future.” What this means for familiesParents want a school that balances academic excellence with character, wellness and global outlook.
