Police in Madhya Pradesh’s Ujjain have arrested a 25-year-old man after CCTV footage caught him repeatedly stealing a married woman’s undergarments from outside her home, in a bizarre case that has left residents of the area shocked.

The incident took place in the Chimanganj police station area, where a family had complained that women’s undergarments kept out to dry outside their house were going missing.

According to police, the complaint came from a family living in the Dhancha Bhavan area. They told authorities that clothes washed and hung on a rope outside their house were being stolen repeatedly at night. Suspecting foul play, the family checked their CCTV footage and later handed it over to the police.

The footage showed a young man approaching the house late at night. After looking around to make sure no one was watching, he removed the woman’s undergarments from the clothesline and quickly fled the spot.

Based on the CCTV evidence, police identified and arrested Ankit Malviya, 25, who lives in the same locality and is a neighbour of the complainant.

During questioning, the accused allegedly confessed that he was obsessed with the married woman and had developed a one-sided love for her. Police said he admitted stealing the undergarments out of that obsession.

Police also found during the investigation that the accused had tattooed the woman’s name on his chest. He is currently being questioned and legal action has been initiated against him. The incident has sparked surprise and concern among residents in the neighbourhood, with police urging people to report suspicious activity in residential areas.
