Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Friday highlighted the role of oceans in the changing global geopolitics amid the ongoing conflict between Iran, the United States, and Israel and said that oceans have once again come to the center of the world’s power. In reference to the current war situation in the Middle East, Singh said that earlier the seas were considered only a medium of trade, but today we can see them becoming a centre of strategic dominance.
Addressing the Maritime Conclave ‘Sagar Sankalp’, the Defence Minister said, “A change is taking place at a global level, old stereotypes, global orders and beliefs are breaking and we have to understand these uncertainties."
“The current situation in the Middle East is a burning example of this. What is happening there is very uncommon and it is difficult to give a concrete prediction about how the situation will change there or in our neighbourhood," he added.
