Off-balance container falls on house on Gujarat highway, man eating inside dies

A man in Gujarat's Valsad district, who was about to sit for his lunch, was killed on the spot after a container truck lost balance and crashed into his house on Friday.

The accident occured on National Highway-48 in the Pardi area of Valsad district. While attempting to overtake, a car driver caused a container truck to lose control and overturn on the roadside. The entire incident was captured on a CCTV camera.

In another CCTV clip from an adjacent room that was crushed under the container’s weight, a blue truck is seen passing by the window as a man nonchalantly goes about his chores around 1 pm. Moments later, he hears the rumble of the truck drawing closer and moves away from the window just as it ploughs into the adjacent room. The impact knocks him off balance, with the footage capturing everything inside the room shaking violently.

The accident occurred near the Pardi Mamlatdar office, where the overturned container crashed onto a nearby residential house.

Upon receiving information about the incident, Pardi police rushed to the spot and began an investigation. Rescue and removal operations were carried out using a crane to clear the container.

The severe accident led to a long traffic jam on the Mumbai-Ahmedabad National Highway-48, causing significant inconvenience to commuters. Police are continuing efforts to restore smooth traffic movement.
