Guntur Municipal Corporation (GMC) Commissioner Puli Srinivasulu on Tuesday (September 09, 2025) directed town planning officials to remove encroachments on major roads, margins, and drains on war footing and ensure that such violations do not recur.

The Commissioner toured Chuttugunta Centre, Nandivelugu Road, Yadav Bazaar, Balaji Nagar, Budampadu, and surrounding areas to inspect development works and sanitation issues. He issued instructions to officials on immediate corrective measures based on the complaints received.

During the inspection at Chuttugunta Centre and Nandivelugu Road, he noticed road encroachments and ordered their prompt removal. Traders were instructed to conduct their business strictly behind the drains and not on the main thoroughfares.

At Balaji Nagar and Yadav Bazaar, he examined complaints related to poor sanitation and found blocked drains. Sanitary inspectors were ordered to clear the blockages immediately. Observing that some stretches of roads in Balaji Nagar were at a lower level, he asked officials to prepare estimates for new CC roads and drains. Later, he visited Budampadu to inspect newly constructed CC roads and drains.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Srinivasulu said that developmental works in the city were progressing at a faster pace and directed engineering officials to closely monitor works at the field level to ensure quality standards. He emphasised that all grievances related to basic amenities should be resolved within the stipulated time frame. He also instructed ward secretariat staff to create awareness among residents on segregating wet and dry waste before handing it over to sanitation workers.
