The Oklahoma City Thunder have made a total of four NBA Finals appearances, out of which two were made before the franchise shifted to Oklahoma City.Before shifting to Oklahoma City and being renamed as the OKC Thunder, the franchise was called the Seattle Supersonics. They started the journey back in 1968, and made their first NBA Finals appearance in the 1977-78 season, where they faced the Washington Bullets. Though Supersonics lost the match, they returned to the court for the 1978-79 season, made it to the finals and defeated the Washington Bullets.

After that, there was a gap of 17 years before the Supersonics made it to the finals.

It was the 1995-96 season when they faced the Chicago Bulls and lost the Championship title to them. In 2008 the franchise transferred to Oklahoma City and renamed itself the Oklahoma City Thunder.After renaming, the Thunder made their first NBA Finals appearance in 2012, when the team had major players like Kevin Durant and James Harden. They faced the Miami Heat where players like Dwayne Wade, and LeBron James led the team to victory.
