Olympic gold next target for Suryakumar Yadav

AHMEDABAD: Having led India to a T20 World Cup title, Suryakumar Yadav is now targetting the 2028 LA Olympics. “The next goal is the Olympics — Olympic gold. And also the T20 World Cup, don’t forget,” the Indian captain said.The year 2028 promises to be significant for T20 cricket, with the Olympic Games in Los Angeles scheduled for August followed by the next T20 World Cup later that year. Surya hopes to bow out with an Olympic gold medal and lead India as defending champions in the World Cup.Surya said his own difficult phase last year reinforced an important lesson about sport. “You will fail more times than you succeed in sport. In 2025 I had a tough year. I couldn’t get a fifty for a long time. But ups and downs are part of the game. You have to respect the game and be true to yourself. You can’t cheat the man in the mirror.”
