The Telugu Desam Party (TDP) on Sunday (March 29) celebrated its 44th foundation day, with leaders across the political spectrum extending greetings and emphasising the need to strengthen alliance unity for the continued development of Andhra Pradesh.
Founded by actor-turned-politician N. T. Rama Rao on the plank of Telugu self-respect, the party has completed over four decades of a significant political journey, marked by electoral successes, challenges and ideological battles.
Chief Minister and TDP national president N. Chandrababu Naidu, in his message, described the party as a reflection of the aspirations of generations of Telugu people. He reiterated the party’s commitment to the welfare of the poor and its founding principle of ensuring food, shelter and clothing for the underprivileged. Calling the foundation day a “festival for every party worker,” he conveyed greetings to cadres across the State.
TDP national general secretary and Minister for HRD Nara Lokesh highlighted the party’s role in uplifting marginalised communities and bringing welfare-oriented governance into national discourse. He said the TDP continues to strive toward making Telugu people globally prominent while carrying forward the ideals of its founder.
Extending wishes on the occasion, Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister and Jana Sena Party (JSP) president K. Pawan Kalyan recalled the party’s historic role in shaping the political landscape of undivided Andhra Pradesh. He praised Mr. Chandrababu Naidu’s leadership in steering the party through difficult phases and instilling confidence in its cadre.
Stressing that the State’s progress is closely tied to coalition unity, he called upon alliance partners to further strengthen their collective spirit.
Echoing similar sentiments, Andhra Pradesh BJP president P.V.N. Madhav said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the Centre and the NDA alliance in the State, significant strides are being made in development and welfare. He expressed hope that the alliance would grow stronger in the coming years to transform Andhra Pradesh into a “golden state.”
Minister for Medical and Health and BJP leader Satya Kumar Yadav also conveyed greetings, noting that the TDP, as an alliance partner, continues to play a key role in driving the State on the path of progress under Mr. Naidu’s leadership.
Leaders across parties lauded the TDP’s enduring legacy, its pro-poor policies and its role in shaping modern Andhra Pradesh politics, while collectively underlining the importance of unity within the ruling alliance for sustained growth and governance.
