One arrested for Verna scrapyard fire

Vasco: Verna police have registered an FIR against Rijayl Mustafa, a resident of Quelossim, Cortalim, for allegedly intentionally setting ablaze scrapyards located at Verna IDC, estimating a loss to the tune of around Rs 20.5 lakh.The complaint in this regard was lodged by Sharif Hassan, a resident of Davorlim, alleging that the accused person, between 12pm and 1pm on Dec 12, intentionally set fire to the scrapyards belonging to him and three other people, namely Asif Shaikh, Athiq Shaikh and Sahid Nizami.The fire, Hassan said, caused him a loss of around Rs 50,000 and a loss of around Rs 20 lakh to the other three scrapyard owners.Police sub-inspector Ramchandra Naik is further investigating the case.
