S Jaishankar expressed concern over the West Asia conflict, stressing its impact on India's diaspora, energy security, and economic stability.

External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar on Monday said the escalating conflict in West Asia is a matter of “particular concern" for India, citing the country’s large diaspora presence and energy security interests in the region. Parliament Budget Session 2.0 LIVE Updates
Speaking in the Rajya Sabha, Jaishankar said, “This ongoing conflict is of particular concern to India. We are a neighbouring region, and have obvious stakes that West Asia remains stable."
He noted that nearly one crore Indians live and work in Gulf nations, while a few thousand Indian nationals are in Iran for study or employment.

“There are one crore Indians who live and work in the Gulf nations. In Iran, too, there are a few thousand Indians for study or employment. The region is key to our energy security and includes many important suppliers of oil and gas," he said.
Jaishankar warned of wider economic implications, adding, “Serious supply chain disruptions and a climate of instability are serious issues."
He also flagged the worsening ground situation, stating, “The conflict has continued to intensify, and the security situation in the region has deteriorated significantly. The conflict has spread to other countries with mounting destruction. Normal life and activities are visibly affected."
His remarks come amid escalating hostilities in the region that have raised concerns over global energy supplies and the safety of expatriates.
