One dead, five injured after wedding DJ touches high-voltage wire in Odisha

One person was killed and five others injured when a DJ sound system accompanying a wedding procession came into contact with a high-voltage overhead wire in Denkanal district of Odisha.

The incident occurred on Wednesday, when the wedding procession was moving along the village road and the sound system suddenly came into contact with the overhead wire.

Within a few seconds, all the six people were seen falling on the ground after being electrocuted. According to eyewitnesses, the sudden electric discharge triggered panic and chaos in the crowd.

All of them were rushed to a local community health centre from where they were transferred to Dhenkanal District Hospital for advanced medical care.

One of the victims, identified as Mantu Palai, was declared dead on arrival by doctors at the district hospital. A post-mortem examination of the body was conducted and police have initiated an investigation into the incident.
