One more tiger cub captured in Nanjidevanapura in Chamarajanagar

Forest officials captured a 10-month-old tiger cub near Nanjidevanapura in Chamarajanagar taluk at the Biligiri Rangaswamy Temple (BRT) Tiger Reserve on January 17 night.

“The cub is safe and its health is being closely monitored,” said a statement from the Deputy Conservator of Forests and Director of BRT Tiger Reserve, Chamarajanagar.

The cub captured on January 17 night was among the one tigress and four cubs that had been residing near Nanjidevanapura village and Harave hobli in the BRT Tiger Reserve.

The Principal Chief Conservator of Forests (Wildlife) and Chief Wildlife Warden, Bengaluru, had granted permission to capture the tigress and her four cubs, leading to the capture of the tigress on January 9 and one female cub, about 10 months old, on January 15.

With the tigress and two cubs already captured, the operation to capture the remaining two tiger cubs is under way. Two departmental veterinary officers, four trained elephants from Dubare camp, along with drone teams and officers, are participating in the operation.
