One of three undertrials who escaped from Kachrod jail held after seven months

Times News NetworkUjjain: One of the three undertrial prisoners who had escaped from Kachrod sub-jail in Ujjain district nearly seven months ago was arrested by Ratlam police on Saturday. The accused, identified as Gopal Kir, 23, was nabbed by the Kharwa outpost police under Tal police station on Mandawal Road following a tip-off. Ujjain police had announced a reward of Rs 5,000 for information leading to his arrest.Gopal was lodged in jail in connection with a kidnapping, rape and POCSO case when he escaped along with two other undertrials, Govindram and Narayan Jat, on Dec 25, 2025.Tal police station in charge Swaraj Dabi said the accused confessed during interrogation that the trio had first fled to Indore after escaping from jail before separating after two to three days.
