Online friendship ends in rape charge; man arrested in Bengaluru

Bengaluru: A 25-year-old woman lodged a complaint against a 28-year-old man whom she befriended through Snapchat, accusing him of raping her. The man, a private firm employee, was arrested.The woman told police she lives alone after separating from her husband. She came in contact with the accused a few months ago and exchanged phone numbers.The accused helped the woman find accommodation in a paying guest facility. On Tuesday evening, the man allegedly took the woman to a lodge in Bhuvaneshwarinagar. She alleged that despite her objections, he sexually assaulted her.
