The Telangana LPG Distributors Association (TLDA) on Thursday said domestic cylinders will not be made available to customers either at the godowns or showrooms of the distributors.

All refills will be delivered only through the scheduled home delivery system and in strict order of booking seniority. It is a non-negotiable policy and being enforced with immediate effect to protect the rights of consumers, TLDA president K. Jagan Mohan Reddy said, announcing the decision.

“We wish to assure every consumer that all bookings are being honoured strictly in the order they are received, on a first-come-first-served basis. No booking will be ignored or bypassed. Your patience for a few additional days will ensure cylinders reach every household equitably and without disruption,” he said in an appeal to the LPG consumers in the State.

The TLDA urges all the consumers to remain calm, patient and cooperate with LPG distributors in view of the prevailing supply situation. There is no need to panic, domestic LPG supply is assured, it said, citing how owing to the ongoing global LPG supply disruption triggered by the conflict in West Asia, there has been an unprecedented surge in refill bookings — rising to 250% to 300% above normal booking volumes.

“This extraordinary spike in demand has stretched delivery capacities significantly, causing delivery timelines to extend from the usual 1–2 days to approximately 6–7 days from the date of booking. We wish to assure every consumer that all bookings are being honoured...” the Association said.

It said TLDA is taking a serious view of the incidents at various locations across the State recently, from consumers gathering in large numbers at distributorship premises and godowns creating law and order situations; forcible attempts to take cylinders from godowns and distributor premises as well as threatening, manhandling and obstructing of LPG delivery personnel during home deliveries.

The association condemns such behaviour. These acts not only endanger the safety of our staff but also disrupt the delivery mechanism.
