New Delhi: OpenAI has officially announced that it is no longer working on its most popular video generation application, Sora. The company has indicated that in the near future it will release the schedule of the application and API, along with suitable information regarding the maintenance of the work of the users.

OpenAI has yet to provide any justification as to why it intends to abandon its Sora application. Android and iOS, Android users were ultimately set free to the Sora application in the second half of 2025.

Sora can be a possible addition to ChatGPT. The Sora app and the developer access to the API would both be deactivated, and there would be no plan to add the video generator to ChatGPT, as OpenAI chief Sam Altman clarified. As the service called Sora is discontinued, the partnership with Disney and OpenAI to use the former’s IP in user-prompted videos is ended as well.

Disney has also said that, since the emerging AI sector is growing fast, it understands why OpenAI has chosen to leave the video generation business and move its focus elsewhere.

We value the positive cooperation between our teams and what we learned thereof, and, going forward, we will keep operating with AI platforms to discover new ways to meet the fans there and responsibly adopt new technologies that honor IP and rights holder rights.
