Operation Toofan: Major drug haul in city, four arrested

Kochi: As part of Operation Toofan-Narco Hunt, police seized significant quantities of narcotic substances in separate cases on Wednesday. Acting on a tip-off received by city police commissioner Kaliraj Mahesh Kumar, Dansaf team and Ernakulam north police arrested two persons near Classic Tourist Home close to Ernakulam North railway station and seized 270.51g of brown sugar.

The accused were identified as Monor Hussain, 31, and Ramjan Ali, 21, of Assam. According to police, the accused are key persons involved in bringing large quantities of brown sugar from Assam. In another case, Dansaf team and Ernakulam north police arrested Mohammed Yousaf from Darussalam Road area in Pachalam and seized 3.6g of MDMA. In a separate operation, Dansaf team and Elamakkara police arrested Amarjith V S, 29, of Vypeen from Sree Narayana Road area at Ponevazhy and seized 4.74g of MDMA.
