 Compact and capable

Rating -- 3.5/5Oppo Reno 15 Pro Mini comes with a starting price of Rs 59,999 in India. The smartphone enters a space that is slowly seeing renewed interest — compact smartphones. With devices like the OnePlus 13s showing that there is still demand for smaller phones, brands are once again exploring this segment.

The Oppo Reno 15 Pro Mini appears to take this idea a step further. Instead of just offering a smaller size, Oppo is trying to bring flagship-level features into a compact form factor. From a 200MP camera to a large battery and a powerful chipset, the phone aims to deliver a full flagship experience without the bulk. In a market dominated by large-screen devices, the Reno 15 Pro Mini is positioning itself as something different — a powerful phone that is also easy to use and carry every day.

But does it deliver in everyday life? Let’s find out

Oppo Reno 15 Pro Mini design and display

Oppo Reno 15 Pro Mini follows a design language that feels familiar at first glance. You get a flat frame with glass on both sides, and the overall finish feels premium in hand. The matte back does a good job of keeping fingerprints away, though it can feel a bit slippery at times. We got the Crystal Pink colour variant for review. The design is practical and beautiful at the same time.

In daily use, we found the compact size to be one of the biggest highlights. The 6.32-inch form factor makes it easy to use with one hand, and it fits comfortably in pockets without feeling bulky. The phone is also lightweight, which adds to the overall comfort when using it for long periods. The camera module sits neatly at the back and blends well with the design. While it does remind you of other phones in the market, it doesn’t feel out of place.

The buttons are placed on the right side and are easy to reach, with good feedback when pressed.

The phone also comes with IP68 and IP69 ratings, which adds a layer of durability and makes it more practical for everyday use.On the front, the display is another strong point. One gets a 6.32-inch AMOLED panel with a 120Hz refresh rate. In day-to-day usage, the screen feels smooth while scrolling and switching between apps.

Colours look vibrant, and the viewing angles are good, making it good enough for watching videos and scrolling through social media or browsing content. The brightness is also good enough for outdoor use, and we did not face major issues while using it under sunlight. The bezels are quite slim, which adds to the immersive feel, and the small punch-hole cutout does not get in the way either. There are also a few display features like colour tuning and video enhancement, which can be enabled to improve the viewing experience depending on what you’re watching.

Overall, the Reno 15 Pro Mini offers a well-balanced design and display experience. It may not feel completely new in terms of looks, but the compact size and comfortable handling make it stand out in daily use.

Oppo Reno 15 Pro Mini performance

In day-to-day use, Oppo Reno 15 Pro Mini feels fast and reliable. Powered by the Dimensity 8450 chipset, the smartphone handles regular tasks with ease. We used it for scrolling through social media, browsing, watching videos, and switching between apps, and the experience remained smooth most of the time.

Apps open quickly, and moving between them feels seamless without noticeable delays.Multitasking is also handled well. We were able to keep multiple apps running in the background without the phone slowing down. Even with heavier apps and occasional gaming, the phone performs well for most users. That said, during longer gaming sessions or extended heavy use, we did notice the phone getting slightly warm. It never became uncomfortable to hold, but the compact size does mean heat builds up a bit faster compared to bigger phones.

Oppo Reno 15 Pro Mini

On the software side, the phone runs Android 16 with ColorOS on top. The interface feels familiar and easy to use. The Reno 15 Pro mini offers a lot of customisation options, along with useful features like smart sidebar, app grouping, and AI tools. Some AI features are helpful, especially for quick edits or translations, but not all of them feel essential in daily use.Battery life is another strong point here. Despite its compact size, the Reno 15 Pro Mini packs a large 6200mAh battery.

In our usage, the phone easily lasted a full day and often stretched beyond that with moderate use. For regular tasks like calls, browsing, and streaming, we didn’t feel the need to reach for the charger frequently.Charging is also quick. The 80W fast charging helps top up the battery in a short time, which is useful when you’re in a hurry. Wireless charging support is a nice addition. When it comes to audio, the stereo speakers deliver a good experience.

The sound is loud enough for watching videos or listening to music, and the output feels balanced. While it may not be the best in its class, it is more than sufficient for everyday use.

Oppo Reno 15 Pro Mini camera

Oppo Reno 15 Pro Mini comes with a triple rear camera setup that includes a 200MP main sensor, a 50MP telephoto lens with 3.5x optical zoom, and a 50MP ultra-wide camera. On the front, it gets a 50MP selfie camera with autofocus. In our day-to-day use, the main camera performs well, especially in good lighting.

Photos come out sharp with good dynamic range, and colours look natural rather than overly boosted. We also noticed that portraits look quite decent, with accurate skin tones.

The telephoto camera is a useful addition. We got clear and detailed photos at 3.5x zoom, and it works well for portraits too. However, it is not ideal for close-up shots due to its focusing limitations. The ultra-wide camera is surprisingly good. We got wide shots with good detail and balanced colours, making it useful for landscapes and group photos. Selfies are another strong point. The front camera captures sharp images with skin tones, and the wider field of view makes it easy to fit more people into the frame. In low light, the main camera holds up reasonably well with balanced exposure, though some details are lost. The telephoto and ultra-wide cameras also perform okay, but you can see a drop in sharpness in darker scenes.

Verdict

Oppo Reno 15 Pro Mini is a smartphone that focuses on balance rather than surprises.

At Rs 59,999 (base price), it brings a compact design, reliable performance and a versatile camera setup into one package. What stands out most is how easy the phone is to use in daily life. We found the size comfortable, performance smooth and a dependable battery life.At the same time, it does not try to push boundaries. The design feels familiar, and while the cameras are good, they are not the best in this price range. The Reno 15 Pro Mini works well for those who want a compact phone without giving up on features. It sticks to a formula that works — and for many users, that will be more than enough.
