The Opposition in the Thrissur Corporation, including the Left Democratic Front (LDF) and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), have demanded an inquiry into the alleged misuse of the official vehicle of Deputy Mayor A. Prasad after visuals surfaced showing Youth Congress activists travelling in it.
Leader of the Opposition in the Corporation T.R. Hiran urged the authorities to conduct a detailed inquiry and take action against those responsible. He alleged that the Corporation-owned vehicle, bearing the Deputy Mayor’s official name board, had been misused by Youth Congress activists.
Mr. Hiran said the visuals showed Youth Congress workers examining files kept inside the vehicle, and called the incident a serious lapse. He demanded a thorough investigation and appropriate action.
BJP protest
Meanwhile, the BJP also staged a protest, alleging that the official vehicle of Mr. Prasad had been illegally made available to Youth Congress leaders for political purposes.
BJP district president Justin Jacob alleged that Youth Congress district vice-president and his associates travelled in the Deputy Mayor’s official vehicle while the Deputy Mayor was not present. He further alleged that the official name board on the vehicle was covered after media personnel began recording the incident.
Demanding that Mr. Prasad accept moral responsibility and resign, Mr. Jacob called for an immediate inquiry and strict action against those responsible. He warned that the BJP would launch intensified protests if no action was taken.
